Dzwonowa

History of Dzwonowa

Nestled between Lubcza, Pilzno, and Jadłowa, there exists the tiny hamlet of Dzowonowa. According to old chronicles, Dzowonowa was established in 1357 by Kazimierz the Great, the King of Poland and the last monarch of the Piast dynasty.

Records in Dzwonowa started in 1779 with birth and marriage records, later expanding to include death records in 1803. This section of our website is dedicated to honoring the men and women of Dzowonowa and preserving the often-overlooked history of this village. We aim to explore the lives of the people who have contributed to the story of Dzowonowa. We will write about individuals who moved, lived, and left Dzwonowa, exploring certain trends to understand the full story of Dzwonowa and the people who make it.

A huge thanks to Terra Pilsnensis and the Polish National Archives for their digitization efforts, and Daniel Lis and John Boeren for helping me transcribe records, a project like this wouldn’t be possible without them.
